Cylinders are specialized pressure vessels with versatile applications across various fields. Given the risks of leakage during storage, transportation, or use—especially with hazardous gases such as toxic, flammable, or explosive types—the quality of cylinder manufacturing is always a top priority, as any leakage could have a significant impact on society.
At Rein, our quality management approach is grounded in full participation from all employees and comprehensive process control. The cylinder manufacturing process involves 19 manufacturing and inspection steps from the procurement of steel pipes to the final product. In this segment, we'll showcase 9 of these steps, offering a detailed insight into Rein's dedication to quality control in cylinder production.
1. Supplier Selection
Rein partners with suppliers who offer stable manufacturing processes, excellent quality, strong reputations, and prompt delivery. These suppliers undergo an evaluation process. Our Procurement Department, in collaboration with the Quality Management Department and the Technology Department, assesses each supplier, and those who meet our standards are added to our approved supplier list.
2. Steel Pipe Inspection
Our steel pipe inspection includes rigorous checks on eight macroscopic dimensional parameters and a thorough analysis of dozens of chemical components. We focus on five representative cross-sections during the evaluation of ovality, diameter, and eccentricity, which could affect both the production process and final product quality. This proactive approach helps eliminate any potential quality concerns, ensuring that only premium products are delivered to our customers.
3. Spinning and Forming
In the spinning and forming process, we precisely measure six key macroscopic dimensional parameters and inspect the visual quality of the cylinder's shoulder and neck once the spin is complete. It is crucial to ensure the accurate transfer of the steel pipe's serial number to ensure continuity and traceability of product information, which guarantees the overall quality of the product.
4. Heat Treatment
Precise temperature control during quenching and tempering is critical in the heat treatment process. Rein uses 40 temperature sensors to monitor the furnace temperature, ensuring consistent heat distribution throughout. By managing 8 crucial checkpoints, we guarantee the heat treatment is executed properly, meeting the required mechanical performance and metallurgical structure standards to ensure the highest product quality.
5. Hardness Testing
Hardness testing is conducted at a minimum of 12 points on the cylinder body. The process involves stages including verifying the designated test locations, number of test points, machining control, indentation control, and data review. These steps ensure consistent hardness throughout the cylinder in both horizontal and vertical directions.
6. Thread Processing
Thread processing requires precise control over the end face roughness. Both internal and external threads undergo inspection with four distinct gauges. Rein showcases exceptional ingenuity in design with its innovative triple sealing system, where each seal can operate independently, thereby greatly improving the product's reliability.
7. Hydrostatic Testing
Rein adheres strictly to national and internal standards during hydrostatic testing, ensuring that 7 critical parameters meet regulatory requirements.
8. Inner Wall Inspection
An endoscope with a high-definition camera is used for inner wall inspection, allowing inspectors to visually examine and document the inside of the cylinder. This process ensures complete monitoring of quality.
9. UT/MT
Rein employs state-of-the-art ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing equipment to ensure compliance with testing standards. Optimizations to the equipment allow for rapid and accurate defect identification, improving the sensitivity of magnetic particle testing from 15/50 to 7/50.
Rein, a leader of gas storage and transportation equipment, places an unwavering focus on quality as the cornerstone of our development. By rigorously overseeing every production step, we provide our customers with professional, efficient, versatile, exceptional, and holistic solutions.
